Savannah Chrisley, the 27-year-old star of the reality show “Chrisley Knows Best,” wasted no time in rushing to pick up her father, Todd Chrisley, after he was pardoned by former President Donald Trump. In the latest episode of her podcast “Unlocked,” Savannah revealed that she received a notification from a government official about when her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, would be released.
“I got a message from someone inside the government saying, ‘This could happen in two hours, five hours; we’re not sure.’ I thought, ‘Alright, I gotta go. I gotta get to Florida,'” Savannah said.
“Tyler [Bishop] and I hopped on a plane to Pensacola 40 minutes later,” she added. Savannah previously shared that Trump personally called her on Tuesday, May 27th, while “walking into Sam’s Club” to inform her about the pardon. She told reporters the next day that she had been waiting at the prison since “2 a.m. last night” to pick up her father.
Savannah described the moment of picking up her 56-year-old father from the Pensacola Federal Prison Camp in Florida as a “bittersweet moment” because the last time she saw him, he was “walking away from me” into prison. However, this time was different as he “walked out and came towards me.” “I think [it was] the most thrilling thing I’ve ever experienced,” she recalled. “But I just felt so lucky, honored, and grateful that my dad was coming home”.
On Thursday, May 29th, she shared a glimpse of her father’s return home from the Florida prison on her Instagram Stories, along with a carousel of multiple selfies with her father, set to the tune of Jason Aldean’s “We Back”.
Savannah also shared with reporters outside the prison that her 19-year-old brother, Grayson Chrisley, picked up their 52-year-old mother, Julie Chrisley, from another prison in Kentucky. The host of the “Unlocked” podcast documented their journey before and after the release. On the same day Julie first stepped out in public, Savannah shared the moment of her parents’ reunion on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “Reunited and it feels so good!”.
The couple, who got married in 1996 and have four children, were first indicted in August 2019 and then found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud by a jury in 2022. They were sentenced to 19 years in prison, but their sentences were reduced by about two years each in September 2023. Since then, they have been appealing. Although Todd’s appeal was upheld, Julie’s appeal was initially granted due to insufficient evidence. However, a judge later ruled that her original punishment was sufficient.
