Travelers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will have a new security checkpoint to help make their summer trips easier.
Checkpoint 1 will open on Friday, June 6, 2025. It is located on the Baggage Claim level at the south end of the terminal, inside the Gina Marie Lindsey International Arrivals Hall. The checkpoint has five screening lanes designed to reduce wait times and improve flow.
“SEA is a busy airport with limited space, so the project team used creativity to turn available areas into a checkpoint that speeds up security,” said Aly Lande, Capital Project Marketing Specialist.
Checkpoint 1 is especially helpful for travelers flying internationally without checked bags. It gives quick access to the S and A gates, which mainly serve international flights.
After passing through security, passengers can reach their gates by escalators or the SEA Underground train.
The area around the checkpoint has also been upgraded. The nearby International Arrivals Hall now features a glass case displaying more than 20 pieces from SEA’s public art collection. New ADA-accessible seating has been added, and a coffee station will soon open to improve the waiting experience.
