Ten team members from Khiri Travel have earned the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism, marking a key step toward the company’s goal of achieving full GSTC certification by the end of 2025.
The certified cohort includes six Green Team leaders, two general managers, an office manager, and the sustainability coordinator at Khiri Core. The intensive four-week course, delivered by TrainingAid and led by experts Nia Klatte and Ayako Ezaki, featured live sessions, interactive modules, and insights from industry practitioners.
“This training has elevated our technical understanding and strengthened our readiness for certification across all eight Asian countries where we operate,” said Sukhum Jarangdej, sustainability coordinator at Khiri Core. “It ensures our Green Teams can lead practical and measurable sustainability initiatives.”
Each Khiri office has a dedicated Green Team of volunteer staff responsible for spearheading eco-focused projects, supporting certification efforts, and promoting sustainability across departments.
The certification requires a passing score of 80% and is retained as a lifelong individual qualification. Three more general managers and a new Green Team member in Vietnam are currently undergoing the same training.
Natalie van Ogtrop, sustainability manager for Khiri’s parent company Yaana Ventures, also received certification earlier this year.
CEO Willem Niemeijer commented, “This milestone reflects Khiri’s deep commitment to regenerative tourism guided by our 4Cs: Conservation, Community, Culture, and responsible Commerce. We will continue to lead by example across Asia.”
