In a crackdown on non-compliance, the Malaysian Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) has canceled the licenses of four Singapore-based tour bus operators for violating local transport rules. The firms were found offering express bus services and selling tickets online, both of which contravene regulations governing foreign bus operators.
Under Malaysian law, while foreign bus operators are permitted to bring tourists for overnight stays in Peninsular Malaysia, they are prohibited from operating express services or selling tickets online. Furthermore, they must submit detailed passenger lists and travel itineraries, which must start and end in Singapore, covering Malaysian destinations only.
The four companies, which were not named, were notified of their license cancellations on April 29 and May 2.
As of now, 23 Singaporean bus operators have received the necessary approval to operate in Malaysia, adhering to the strict guidelines set by Apad.
