Keflavík Airport (KEF) experienced significant growth in passenger traffic in April 2024, welcoming 653,207 passengers—an impressive 17.5% increase compared to the same month last year, meeting forecasts. This brings the airport’s year-to-date total to over 2.16 million passengers.
Travel is expected to continue its upward trend, with projections indicating 5.6 million travelers between April and October.
In April, 24 airlines served 74 destinations, with London, Copenhagen, New York, Paris, and Amsterdam being the most popular routes. April 17 marked the busiest day of the month, with 27,460 passengers passing through the airport. Foreign departures reached 146,000, with travelers from the U.S. making up 22% and from the U.K. 14%. Icelandic outbound travel saw a notable surge, increasing by 80%, largely driven by Easter holiday travel in April.
