Industry experts and Chinese government officials agree that China’s inbound tourism market is set for significant growth. This expansion is driven by strategic policy changes and investments in infrastructure aimed at creating a smooth travel experience for international visitors.
China’s approach targets multiple aspects of the traveler’s journey. These include simplifying visa rules, offering more payment options, and improving transportation and accommodation facilities. These efforts aim to remove barriers that have limited China’s attractiveness to foreign tourists, especially following recent global health disruptions.
Shi Zeyi, an official from China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, shared in the China Economic Roundtable—an all-media program by Xinhua News Agency—that China will intensify efforts to make inbound travel easier. Improvements will focus on visas, payment systems, transportation, and lodging to make travel more convenient for visitors.
Shi also highlighted plans to tailor tourism services to meet specific traveler needs, diversify business models, and meet international standards. This includes creating new products and innovative business formats designed to appeal to the different preferences of travelers from around the world.
