Yuxi unveils comprehensive hospitality initiatives for the new football season, transforming matches into immersive cultural experiences. The city’s tourism authority has coordinated transportation, dining and accommodation solutions to welcome nationwide supporters, including special match-day trains from Kunming and flexible hotel policies.
Beyond the stadium
Surrounding the Yuxi Plateau Sports Center, newly developed thematic zones showcase local traditions through intangible cultural heritage performances like the Yuxi Flower Lantern dance. Food enthusiasts can sample regional specialties including copper hotpot and Pubei lamb, while collectors may acquire unique blue-and-white ceramic roof guardian figurines or Bronze Age replicas from the Lijiashan archaeological site.
The tourism bureau designed seasonal itineraries blending athletic events with natural wonders, from the picturesque Fuxian Lake to the mystical Ailao Mountains. Customizable packages allow visiting supporters to combine match attendance with adventure trekking or leisure retreats, complete with airport transfers and personalized guiding services.
“Through football, we’re inviting China to discover Yuxi’s 2,000-year legacy,” stated Yang Jianlan, Deputy Director of Yuxi’s Culture and Tourism Bureau. The integrated approach demonstrates how secondary cities are leveraging major sporting events to boost cultural tourism and regional economic development.
