Saudi Arabia has reopened its e-visa portal for tourists and Umrah pilgrims, just days after concluding the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which welcomed over 1.6 million participants from more than 150 countries. The Saudi Tourism Authority reactivated the online e-visa system on June 10, allowing eligible international travellers to apply for entry into the Kingdom.
In addition, visitors holding valid Schengen, UK, or US visas, or residents of the European Union, United Kingdom, or United States, can now obtain a visa-on-arrival at Saudi ports of entry.
This move signals a significant reopening as Saudi Arabia prepares for a busy summer tourism season. With events like the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, coastal resorts, and cultural festivals, officials are promoting what they call “one of the most accessible and appealing” times to visit the Kingdom.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that Umrah visa issuance also resumed on June 10, following the completion of Hajj rituals. Pilgrims who gathered in Makkah finished the farewell tawaf, the final rite of their pilgrimage. Entry to Makkah has reopened from June 11 for travellers with valid religious and travel documents, lifting restrictions that had been in place to manage Hajj crowds.
Earlier this year, Saudi authorities suspended all visa issuance—including Umrah, family visit, and tourist visas—ahead of the Hajj period. The last date for Umrah entry was April 13 before the pilgrimage season began.
