The Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau proudly announces that the Kansas Gunsmoke Trail has been named the 2025 Collaboration of the Year by the Midwest Travel Network at its annual conference in Grand Island, Nebraska.
This innovative tourism campaign links four iconic Kansas communities—Wichita, Hays, Dodge City, and Abilene—celebrating the spirit of the Wild West through shared storytelling, historic sites, and cowboy culture. Since its launch in 2023, the trail has captivated travelers of all ages by bringing to life legendary characters, classic TV shows, and unforgettable small-town experiences.
Sara Broers, co-founder of Midwest Travel Network, highlighted the trail’s wide appeal and strong collaboration with content creators across the Midwest.
Julie Roller Weeks, director of the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau, emphasized the power of partnership in showcasing Kansas, stating that the trail is helping put the state “on the map in a new way.”
The Kansas Gunsmoke Trail campaign promotes authentic Western heritage and hospitality, engaging visitors both onsite and online, and continues to gain momentum thanks to the enthusiastic support of local communities.
