Actress Brenda Song, 37, is looking forward to a “simple” summer with her family, including husband Macaulay Culkin and their two young sons, Dakota and Carson. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Song shared her hopes for a laid-back season filled with family time.
Top Bucket List Item: Disneyland
Song revealed that her top bucket list item for the summer is to visit Disneyland with her kids. “I mean, honestly, I want to go to Disneyland with the kids. I’m ready,” she said. “We haven’t gone yet this year, and that’s crazy for us, because we are obsessed with Disneyland, but it’s been a busy year.” Despite her busy schedule, which includes filming the second season of Netflix’s “Running Point,” Song is eager to enjoy some quality time with her family.
Simple Summer Plans
Song emphasized her desire for a simple and easy summer. “I want something simple,” she said. “I want easy. I want to get in the pool with the kids, things like that.” Ultimately, she hopes to have “a little bit of time this summer to be a mom.”
Mother’s Day Plans
For Mother’s Day, Song wants to keep things equally low-key. “I hope we’re doing absolutely nothing,” she said. “All I want to do as mom is to do nothing and just to hang out with my baby boys and see my mama. That’s all I want to do.” She added, “If you have kids, you know that is the ideal Mother’s Day.”
Song previously shared her thoughts on the importance of taking a break on Mother’s Day. “As moms, you are running around all the time,” she said. “You have so much on your plate, even when you don’t realize it, just because [of] your kids. You forget to sometimes take care of yourself. That’s what I really love about a day like Mother’s Day, where you take a second to just take a deep breath. We deserve a little bit of appreciation. Moms do a lot.”
Song’s desire for a simple summer and a peaceful Mother’s Day reflects the importance of self-care and family time for working parents.
