Around 39 local tourism operators will represent Botswana at this year’s Africa Travel Indaba, set to attract approximately 9,000 delegates.
The event will officially be opened by South Africa’s Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, with Minister of Environment and Tourism, Wynter Mmolotsi, also attending.
These 39 local exhibitors highlight Botswana’s commitment to expanding its tourism sector. The delegation features both well-established operators and new businesses eager to form partnerships, secure bookings, and promote Botswana as a leading destination.
A total of 27 African countries will participate in the event, including Angola, Kenya, St Helena, Lesotho, Cameroon, Madagascar, Tanzania, Congo, Malawi, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mauritius, Zambia, Egypt, Mozambique, Zanzibar, Eswatini, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Reunion Islands, Gabon, Rwanda, Ghana, Seychelles, and host nation South Africa.
The Africa Travel Indaba is held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban. It is a key event for boosting intra-African trade and tourism, evolving over the years into a platform for business deals and discussions on sustainable tourism development across the continent.
For Botswana, the focus this year is on rebranding itself as a competitive, high-value tourism destination while helping local operators reach broader international markets.
