Travel agencies in Hyderabad report a significant drop in bookings for Turkey, attributed to geopolitical tensions and growing social media movements like #BoycottTurkey and #IndiaFirst. Compared to last summer, when 15–20 families typically traveled to Turkey, only eight bookings have been made for this year—with three recent cancellations.
Many travelers are opting for alternative destinations such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Dubai, seen as safer or politically neutral choices.
Veena World, a Hyderabad-based agency, confirmed a similar trend: approximately 30 travelers who had booked trips to Turkey for May 2025 have either cancelled or shifted their plans due to concerns over safety and security. Local agencies say this shift reflects heightened caution among tourists amid ongoing political developments.
