In a strong show of solidarity following the recent Pahalgam attack, around 100 travel companies and associated agencies in Kolkata have launched the ‘Chalo Kashmir’ initiative to revive tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
The move is seen as a bold counter to terror tactics aimed at destabilizing the region’s hospitality industry. Industry leaders believe restoring tourist confidence is the most effective way to resist such threats.
These agencies manage about 400,000 domestic travelers annually, with 40,000 heading to J&K.
The number is expected to grow as more travel groups join the campaign.
The campaign underscores the tourism sector’s role not only in economic recovery but also in supporting peace and resilience in the Kashmir Valley.
