Qatar’s travel and tourism sector is on a robust growth path, expected to contribute QR124.2 billion to the national economy in 2025, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). This positions the sector as one of the country’s most influential economic engines.
WTTC projects the sector’s contribution to rise to QR166.6 billion by 2035. International visitors dominate spending, accounting for nearly 90% of travel expenditures, with over 75% of trips taken for leisure purposes.
Employment in the sector is set to support over 350,000 jobs this year, increasing to more than 487,000 by 2035. Visitor spending is forecasted to reach QR98.8 billion internationally and QR12.6 billion domestically in 2025, growing to QR144.7 billion and QR16.7 billion respectively by 2035.
Qatar’s tourism momentum is strong, with over 1.5 million international visitors welcomed in the first quarter of 2025 alone, further cementing its status as a favored global destination.
