As summer travel picks up, Huntsville International Airport is preparing for one of its busiest seasons yet.
Talyn Walton from the airport shared important tips for travelers. She said, “You can bring most items on your trip, but for liquids, sharp objects, or anything that could be seen as a weapon, check TSA.gov or contact your airline.”
Walton reminded passengers that sunscreen over 3.4 ounces must go in checked luggage. Firearms are not allowed in carry-on bags. Floaties and inflatables are allowed but must be deflated before going through security.
If you plan to check a bag, Walton advises arriving at least 45 minutes before your flight. Bags cannot be checked after this time.
With the Real ID rules now in effect, travelers need to bring their physical Real ID card. “If you only have the paper version of the Real ID, bring your old ID or expired whole-punched ID along with the paper Real ID,” Walton explained. This will be accepted at security.
Other forms of ID like a passport, Global Entry card, or TSA Pre-Check card are also valid.
