The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced the resumption of civilian flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India, following a temporary suspension triggered by the recent military standoff between India and Pakistan.
The airports, which had been closed since May 9, were scheduled to remain shut until 0529 hours on May 15, but are now open for operations effective immediately, AAI confirmed on Monday.
Key airports affected included major hubs such as Srinagar and Amritsar. The shutdown had disrupted flight schedules and impacted thousands of travelers.
In response, airlines including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have begun issuing travel advisories and updates to their customers.
Key Points:
32 airports across northern and western India had been shut from May 9 to May 15.
Flight operations resumed ahead of schedule as of May 12.
Passengers are advised to check directly with airlines for real-time flight status and schedule adjustments.
NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) were issued by AAI and other authorities during the suspension period.
Travelers are urged to monitor airline websites and notifications closely as flight schedules are normalized over the coming days.
