Croatia has introduced its very first electric battery-powered train, valued at over €17 million, marking a pivotal upgrade for the country’s historically outdated rail network. Known previously for slow and aging trains, Croatia is now embracing modernization with this investment in green technology.
The battery train is part of a wider push under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (2021-2026) to enhance passenger transport sustainability, reduce carbon emissions, and improve travel experiences.
This initiative aligns Croatia with broader European and global efforts to promote environmentally friendly transport solutions.
