by jingji14

On the eve of this year’s “China Tourism Day”, Shanghai played host to an inbound MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tour group consisting of over 1,200 members, mainly from 19 countries and regions.

During their stay, apart from participating in meetings and other activities, the group members explored Shanghai’s iconic landmarks, savored local cuisines, and indulged in shopping, with many falling in love with the charm of this Chinese metropolis. For instance, Russian tourists Sampir and his wife Daria were fascinated by the city, from its landmarks like the Bund to local snacks such as xiaolongbao.

Since the beginning of this year, the inbound tourism market in Shanghai and across China has been on the upswing, with MICE tour groups arriving in droves. This trend is attributed to China’s visa – free and other facilitation policies, which have made traveling to China more convenient. It also reflects the active exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

Notably, on May 18th, some foreign tourists even embarked on a journey from Shanghai to Tibet, eager to explore the unique scenery and culture of the Tibetan region. This influx of tourists not only enriches cultural exchanges but also boosts the local tourism economy, creating new opportunities for the development of Shanghai’s tourism industry.
