On May 18th, Train Y444, the “Panda Special Train – Chengdu”, departed from Anjing Station in Chengdu, Sichuan, carrying 109 Chinese and foreign tourists on a 16 – day “Panoramic North and South Xinjiang Ultimate Journey” to Kashgar Station in Xinjiang.
Jointly created by China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Culture and Tourism Development Group, this special train made its global pre – sale in December 2024, with tickets starting at 50,000 yuan. During the journey, passengers can enjoy an 8000 – kilometer adventure across Xinjiang, taking in the region’s stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
So far, all 10 trips from May to October on the Xinjiang route have been sold out, with 70% of the tickets purchased by inbound tourists. The popularity of this train is due to its unique travel experience. It offers a luxurious travel environment with modern amenities, including comfortable bedrooms, dining cars, and entertainment areas. Each room is equipped with independent bathrooms and smart home systems.
The train’s travel itinerary also includes visits to 21 scenic spots such as Kashgar Old Town, Tianchi Lake, Kanas Lake, and Turpan, accompanied by professional guides and cultural scholars. What’s more, considering Chengdu’s advantage as an international hub, inbound tourists are offered a 1 – 3 – day “Discovering Chengdu” tour before boarding, where they can explore attractions like the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Kuanzhai Alleys, and Dujiangyan. This innovative “railway + tourism” model not only meets the growing demand for high – quality tourism but also promotes cultural exchanges between China and the world.
