Air Arabia has teamed up with Al Maryah Community Bank (Mbank), the UAE’s first fully integrated digital bank, to enable flight bookings using AE Coin payments through the AEC Wallet App. This makes Air Arabia the first airline in the region to accept stablecoin payments, highlighting its commitment to digital innovation.
AE Coin is the UAE’s first stablecoin backed 1:1 by the UAE Dirham. It offers price stability, security, and low transaction fees. With this new option, Air Arabia customers can choose the AEC Wallet when booking flights on the airline’s website. This payment method supports the UAE’s vision of a digital-first economy and provides travelers with a convenient alternative.
Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia, said the partnership with Mbank reflects the airline’s focus on digitalization and improving customer experience through technology. He added that AE Coin brings more value, choice, and flexibility to their customers.
Mohammed Wassim Khayata, CEO of Mbank, said the collaboration aligns with their mission to provide secure, affordable digital payment solutions. He also noted that working with Air Arabia helps advance the UAE’s goal of building an inclusive, digitally empowered financial ecosystem.
