This year marks the “Year of Chinese Tourism” in Kazakhstan. To boost cultural and people – to – people exchanges between China and Kazakhstan and deepen connectivity between China and Central Asian countries, the inaugural China – Central Asia International Cultural and Tourism Train on the Xi’an – Almaty (Kazakhstan) route departed from Xi’an Station yesterday.
On the morning of May 29th, Train Y29 set off from Xi’an Railway Station, heading westward towards Almaty, Kazakhstan. This signifies the first – time operation of the China – Central Asia International Cultural and Tourism Train on the Xi’an – Almaty section. The train will pass through Shaanxi, Gansu, Xinjiang and other provinces and autonomous regions, and exit China through the Horgos Port, with an expected arrival in Almaty on May 31st.
According to Hui Lixia, Deputy Director of the Passenger Transport Department of China Railway Xi’an Bureau Group Co., Ltd., the international cultural and tourism train adopts a “domestic section + overseas section” segmented transportation mode. The section from Xi’an to Horgos uses 25T – type carriages with a speed of 140 kilometers per hour, while the section from Horgos to Almaty uses 25G – type carriages for international through – train transport. Chinese and Kazakh railway departments are working closely together to ensure passengers can complete the “one – stop – through” customs clearance procedure.
This train serves as a new platform for cultural and people – to – people exchanges between China and Central Asian countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, further strengthening the bond between the two sides.
