Heavy rain on Monday has caused major flooding in Steuben County, making many roads unsafe to use. As a result, officials have issued a non-essential travel advisory to keep the roads clear for emergency crews.
Several roads are currently impassable. These include County Routes 10, 15, 119, 76, 87, 88, and 89, along with State Routes 36, 54, and 248. First responders and utility workers are out in the field responding to emergency calls and checking the damage.
County officials are asking residents to avoid all non-essential travel. Staying off the roads will help emergency crews move quickly and safely.
Authorities are also reminding residents to call 911 only in case of true emergencies. Downed power lines or electrical issues should be reported directly to local utility companies.
