The German National Tourist Board has released its first-ever Germany Halal Travel Guide, designed to make the country more accessible and welcoming for Muslim travelers. Initially available in English, an Arabic version is expected to follow soon.
Unveiled at the Halal in Travel Global Summit 2025, the guide features cities like Munich, Düsseldorf, Dresden, and Berlin—destinations that blend cultural richness with infrastructure tailored to Muslim visitors. It offers practical travel tips, halal restaurant listings, mosque locations, hotel recommendations, and sample itineraries. The guide also highlights the unique offerings of Germany’s 16 federal states.
Yamina Sofo, director for the GCC region at the German National Tourist Board, described the guide as a gateway for Muslim travelers to explore Germany “as a respectful, enriching, and welcoming destination.” She emphasized that Germany is “listening, learning, and actively responding” to the needs of the global Muslim travel market—one of today’s most dynamic tourism segments.
With over five million Muslims living in Germany and increasing numbers visiting each year, Sofo said the country is committed to inclusive service and authentic engagement: “We want travelers to feel peace of mind, knowing their comfort and dignity are prioritised.”
The guide was developed in collaboration with Crescentrating, a global authority on halal-friendly travel. Founder Fazal Bahardeen noted that such publications not only offer useful travel information but also communicate a broader message: “They give Muslim travelers the perception of a warm welcome by the destination.”
