Rayong Province has been named the No. 1 Slow Travel destination in Asia for 2025 by global travel platform Agoda, Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikan Wattanachan announced on Wednesday.
Rayong was selected for its natural beauty and relaxed local lifestyle, offering a peaceful escape for both Thai and international visitors, Sasikan said. She highlighted the province’s quiet beaches—such as Mae Ramphueng Beach—and natural attractions like the Thong Prong Thong mangrove forest, the largest in the region. The vibrant local fish markets at Suan Son Beach also reflect Rayong’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism by blending nature, culture, and community.
Agoda noted that global travelers are increasingly choosing to spend more time in each location instead of rushing through destinations. This trend, known as Slow Travel, matches what Rayong has to offer.
Sasikan also emphasized that Thailand continues to be one of the top destinations on many global travel platforms. This growing appeal is the result of strong cooperation between the government, private sector, and local communities to support sustainable tourism.
The Thai government has reaffirmed its support for the tourism industry by protecting natural resources, improving public facilities, and empowering local communities. These efforts aim to ensure that Thailand remains a destination people are excited to visit—and eager to return to—for years to come.
