The Johor government is engaging with ride-hailing company Grab to update the Cross-Border Travel Agreement, aiming to make travel between Johor and Singapore more seamless.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the talks were a key topic during a recent meeting with Grab’s senior management. These discussions are part of broader plans to improve Johor’s tourism and transportation sectors ahead of Visit Johor Year 2026 (TMJ 2026).
“The talks also covered possible collaborations between Malaysian and Singaporean transport ministries, and the role of Grab and other public transport providers in facilitating smoother travel between the two countries,” Onn Hafiz said.
He also announced plans to launch an integrated physical and digital platform to highlight Johor’s top tourist attractions. This platform will make it easier for visitors to access information both online and offline.
“This initiative has strong potential to boost tourism, create new income opportunities for local communities, stimulate the economy, and position Johor as a modern, welcoming state,” Onn Hafiz added.
