India has temporarily closed 27 airports in sensitive northern and western regions following a recent escalation in tensions with Pakistan and cross-border attacks. These closures are expected to last at least until May 10, 2025. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued a nationwide advisory, requiring all airports and airlines to increase security measures and conduct more thorough passenger screenings.
As a result, over 400 flights have been cancelled or rescheduled. Airlines are advising passengers to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure times. The government has clarified that the closures affect only specific airports, not the entire country’s airspace. Travelers are encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
