According to the latest Skift research, the Asia – Pacific region’s hotel industry is on an upward trajectory and is projected to overtake Europe by 2026. During the pandemic, the Asia – Pacific outperformed Europe in accommodation revenue. Although Europe recovered rapidly, experts anticipate the Asia – Pacific will regain the lead in 2026.
To meet the burgeoning demand, the Lodging Econometrics Construction Pipeline Trend Report reveals there are 2,074 projects in the region, with a total of 408,213 rooms in the hotel pipeline.
Among the recent and upcoming openings are three new convention centers in Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington, New Zealand’s major cities. Additionally, a wave of new hotels is blending nature and wellness. The Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree in Singapore is set within a wildlife reserve, featuring biophilic design. Raffles Sentosa Singapore offers a luxurious stay by the sea. In India, the Jim Corbett Marriott Resort & Spa is nestled in the wilderness.
