The China Pavilion, spanning 3,500 square meters as one of Osaka Expo’s largest international exhibits, presents a compelling narrative of traditional ecological philosophy meeting cutting-edge technology through three immersive zones. The bamboo-inspired architecture, drawing from ancient Chinese scroll design, houses exhibitions blending cultural heritage with future-forward vision.
Heaven and Humanity in Unity
The first zone transforms China’s 24 solar terms into a dynamic multimedia experience, where traditional patterns merge with contemporary design. This digital reinterpretation demonstrates how ancient agricultural wisdom remains relevant in modern ecological consciousness.
Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains
Visitors encounter vivid case studies of environmental restoration, from Xiamen’s Yundang Lake ecosystem revival to the remarkable greening of Taklimakan Desert. These success stories visually articulate China’s “green is gold” development philosophy through before-after comparisons and interactive displays.
Life in Continuous Renewal
The technology-focused upper level features astronauts’ greetings from Tiangong space station and Tang Jialing’s record-breaking 7,062-meter deep-sea footage. A smart city model demonstrates integrated urban systems, while AI recreates mythological figures composing poetry in multiple languages – bridging ancient culture with artificial intelligence.
“Our exhibition embodies the concept of building a community of life for man and nature,” said Li Qingshuang, China’s Commissioner General. The pavilion’s pièce de résistance – lunar soil samples from Chang’e-5 and Chang’e-6 missions – symbolizes China’s contributions to global scientific exploration while honoring traditional celestial reverence.
