The 2025 World Cultural Heritage Themed Tourism Overseas Promotion Season kicked off in Turpan, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. As part of the “Regional Themed Tourism Overseas Promotion Season” series, this event is jointly organized by the China International Culture Association, along with the culture and tourism departments of 10 provincial-level regions including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, Guizhou, Gansu, Ningxia, and Xinjiang. Additionally, culture and tourism authorities from seven cities, such as Turpan, Wuxi, Luoyang, Lhasa, Yan’an, Quanzhou, and Xinzhou, and overseas cultural and tourism institutions are involved. The promotion will last until November.
During this period, organizers will roll out activities like global screenings of themed videos, themed photo exhibitions, and broadcasts of local cultural and tourism resources. They also plan to hold offline “Hello! China” special promotion events in Japan, the UK, and the US.
At the launch ceremony, some guests delivered keynote speeches on international cooperation in world cultural heritage protection within the Belt and Road Initiative framework and the practical use of Turpan’s historical heritage to boost tourism. A dialogue on “Tourism Development and World Cultural Heritage Protection: Seeking a Sustainable Path of Balanced Coexistence” was also conducted. After the meeting, attendees viewed themed exhibitions and visited an intangible cultural heritage fair.
Since December 2021, the China International Culture Association, collaborating with domestic regions and overseas cultural and tourism institutions, has held 10 promotion seasons with themes ranging from Chinese ice and snow to world cultural heritage. With over 6,000 digital resources launched and 18 offline promotion events held in 15 countries and regions, these activities have attracted more than 590 million overseas participants.
