On the evening of May 23, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 2025 “China – Cambodia Tourism Year” and the special cultural performance “Water – charmed Jiangsu – Colorful Khmer” were grandly held in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
H.E. Mr. Ouk Sam Vichet, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Office of the Council of Ministers of Cambodia, attended the event as a special representative of Prime Minister Hun Manet. In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Ouk Sam Vichet emphasized that the Cambodian government regards tourism as a green – gold industry, which plays a crucial role in boosting the national economy and will contribute significantly to Cambodia’s vision of becoming a high – income country by 2050. He expressed that with the care and support of the leaders of both countries, the 2025 “Cambodia – China Tourism Year” will inject new impetus into tourism cooperation and people – to – people bonds between the two countries, bringing benefits to both nations and promoting the construction of a Cambodia – China community with a shared future.
H.E. Mr. Wang Wenbin, the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, stated that the holding of the “China – Cambodia Tourism Year” will provide more convenience for Chinese tourists visiting Cambodia. The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia will work together with the Cambodian side to support the tourism industries of both countries in strengthening cooperation, increase the number of direct flights between the two countries, and introduce more incentives for Chinese tourists, aiming to make the trips of Chinese tourists to Cambodia more convenient, safe and comfortable.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Hu Han, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, the delegation from Jiangsu Province of China, and representatives from all walks of life in both countries. The wonderful performances jointly presented by Chinese and Cambodian artists on the evening added a rich cultural flavor to the event, heralding a new chapter of flourishing tourism cooperation between China and Cambodia.
