Malaysia Airlines Taps Google Tech to Personalize & Modernize Travel

by Mary

Malaysia Airlines is taking a big step forward in its digital journey by expanding its partnership with tech leader Google. The two companies first teamed up in 2024, but the focus is now shifting more toward using artificial intelligence (AI), personalized marketing, and digital tools to improve how the airline operates and serves customers.

With a new Joint Business Plan in place, Malaysia Airlines will bring Google’s AI technology — including the Gemini AI model and the Veo image-to-video tool — into more areas of the travel experience.

One recent example of this was seen at the MATTA Fair, where Malaysia Airlines hosted an interactive showcase. Visitors could turn their personal photos into short videos using Veo, tying into the airline’s “Time For” campaign. The goal was to show how digital tools can make travel content more exciting and shareable.

“This is about changing how we connect with our customers — from the moment they get inspired to travel, to booking, and throughout the journey,” said Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines at Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). “With Google’s powerful technology and global experience, we’re opening up new possibilities, making travel smoother, and helping to promote Malaysia as a top travel destination.”
