The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced plans to convene a panel to examine the rising pressures affecting airline operations across the country.
This initiative highlights the government’s concern about a sector that has long played a key role in regional connectivity and economic growth. However, changes in passenger behavior and rising operational costs have begun to destabilize the industry.
A conference is scheduled for May 30 in Tokyo, where seven experts from leading academic institutions will meet. Their task is to investigate the root causes of the industry’s current struggles and to offer practical recommendations for securing the future of domestic air services in Japan.
