Throughout this period, regions across China have been actively conducting overseas promotional campaigns. Cultural and tourism authorities support market players in innovating products and enhancing promotion efforts to drive the development of inbound tourism.
Active Moves by Overseas Institutions
Data from the National Immigration Administration shows that during the recent May Day holiday, 380,000 foreigners eligible for visa – free policies entered China, a 72.7% increase compared to the same period last year, indicating a booming inbound tourism market. Overseas Chinese cultural centers and tourism offices abroad have collaborated with relevant entities to organize “Hello! China” national tourism promotion events and invited foreign travel agents for inspection tours in China.
On May 19, the “Hello! China” Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area tourism promotion and the launching ceremony for French travel agents’ inspection tours in China were held in Paris. In Switzerland, over 30 stunning Chinese tourism images on themes like “the Belt and Road” were exhibited. In Japan, a lecture in a university sparked students’ desire to visit China.
Local Cultural and Tourism Overseas Promotion
During the themed month, local areas focused on enhancing the international influence of China’s tourism image and resources. Beijing held a promotion in Seoul, Hainan established 29 overseas promotion offices, and Gansu promoted its tourism in Bangkok, all aiming to attract more international tourists.
Comprehensive Efforts to Attract Foreign Tourists
During this period, various regions and departments continued to innovate products. An agreement for the “Hello! China” inbound tourism partnership program was signed. Smart tourism emerged as a new highlight, with related dialogues and promotions held in Thailand. Shenzhen launched multiple measures for inbound tourists, while China Eastern Airlines offered free transit tours and special travel packages. With these concerted efforts, China is ready to welcome more overseas visitors to explore its charm.
