Delta Air Lines is charging some passengers much higher prices when booking solo tickets on certain routes. Fares can drop dramatically when at least two travelers are included in the same booking. In some cases, solo passengers pay up to 70% more for the exact same seat.
This pricing difference is outlined in Delta’s published fare rules for specific domestic flights, which state that the lowest price requires passengers to be accompanied by another adult. The airline has not publicly addressed these fare discrepancies.
Similar pricing strategies have also been adopted by American Airlines and United Airlines.
