On June 4th, 2025, the C919, China’s domestically produced large aircraft, made its first commercial flight to a regional airport. The China Southern Airlines flight CZ3383, carrying 139 passengers, took off from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 22:21 and landed smoothly at Nanyang Jiangying Airport at 23:57. This marks the first time the C919 has been used for a commercial flight to a regional airport, signifying an important step in the aircraft’s market-oriented operations.
The successful completion of this flight is a key step in the market-oriented operation of the C919. It not only demonstrates the aircraft’s capability to operate in regional airports but also paves the way for further expansion of its commercial routes. The C919’s presence at Nanyang Jiangying Airport also signifies the airport’s role as a training base for the aircraft. From June 5th to 6th, the C919 will conduct intensive flight training at the airport, focusing on takeoff, landing, and go-around maneuvers. This training will help optimize the aircraft’s performance and ensure the readiness of pilots and ground staff for future operations.
Following this successful maiden flight, Nanyang Jiangying Airport will regularly undertake flight training, technical validation, and irregular commercial flight support tasks for the C919. China Southern Airlines plans to continue expanding the C919’s route network based on the aircraft’s delivery schedule. This will further enhance the aircraft’s commercial presence and contribute to the development of China’s aviation industry.
