FlySafair has become the first airline in South Africa to introduce a free AI-powered travel assistant. Named Lindi, the new virtual assistant offers 24/7 support via WhatsApp, aiming to simplify flight bookings and customer service.
Currently in its Beta phase, Lindi can book flights for individual passengers, change passenger names or seats, and provide travel information. This makes it one of the most advanced AI tools in the country’s airline industry.
“Our goal has always been to offer affordable, hassle-free, and punctual flights,” said Kirby Gordon, FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer. “With AI and Lindi, we can provide each customer with a free, private travel assistant at scale. We’re excited to further develop her capabilities to enhance our service.”
Since the launch, customer feedback has been very positive. Gordon added, “Interactions feel natural, and Lindi really helps people get things done.”
Lindi was developed by Stubber, a South African tech company specializing in AI solutions. Guy Duncan, Stubber’s Managing Director, said, “We are proud to partner with FlySafair to bring advanced AI technology to travel. Lindi showcases how AI can elevate customer service and streamline business processes.”
