EgyptAir, the national carrier of Egypt, is set to expand its presence in the Chinese market, reinforcing its commitment to connecting the two nations through enhanced air travel. The airline, which currently operates 16 weekly flights between Cairo and cities like Beijing, highlighted its strategic plans at the 18th China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM).
“China is a vital market for EgyptAir, and we recognize the growing demand for travel between Egypt and China,” stated a senior official at COTTM. The airline plans to increase flight frequencies to key Chinese destinations and introduce new routes, though specific cities and timelines are yet to be announced. This expansion aims to cater to both leisure and business travelers, capitalizing on China’s resurgent outbound tourism.
In tandem with flight additions, EgyptAir will launch promotional campaigns to offer Chinese passengers exclusive discounts and streamlined services. These initiatives include bundled travel packages with partner hotels, simplified booking processes, and enhanced in – flight amenities tailored to Chinese preferences. The airline also intends to strengthen partnerships with Chinese online travel agencies (OTAs) to improve accessibility for travelers.
EgyptAir’s existing network already connects Chinese travelers to Egypt’s iconic attractions, such as the Great Pyramids and the Nile River. The increased flights will not only facilitate tourism but also support bilateral trade and cultural exchange. “We see this expansion as a bridge to deepen ties between Egypt and China,” the official added, noting that the airline is equipped to handle the growing passenger volume with its modern fleet.
The move aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to attract more Chinese visitors, following visa facilitation measures and tourism promotion campaigns. With China emerging as a top source of international tourists, EgyptAir’s investment in the market underscores the country’s commitment to becoming a premier destination for Chinese travelers.
