BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) – China’s software and information technology service industry maintained strong growth momentum during the January-April period, with total revenue reaching 4.26 trillion yuan (about $590 billion), a year-on-year increase of 10.8 percent, official data showed Monday.
Key Financial Indicators Show Healthy Expansion
The sector demonstrated balanced growth across multiple financial metrics:
- Total profits surged to 507.5 billion yuan, up 14.2% year-on-year
- Software exports reached $17.26 billion, growing 3.5% from 2023
- Operating costs remained stable at 3.3 trillion yuan, with 9.9% growth
- R&D investment increased 12.5% to 228 billion yuan
Segmented Market Performance
Software Products: Revenue grew 9.6% to 993.3 billion yuan, representing 23.3% of total industry income. Within this segment:
- Basic software: 53.6 billion yuan (+8.6%)
- Industrial software: 91.3 billion yuan (+6.3%)
- Information security products: 42.1 billion yuan (+12.8%)
IT Services: The largest sector maintained double-digit growth at 11.5%, generating 2.84 trillion yuan in revenue. Notable subsectors included:
- Cloud computing/big data: 465.8 billion yuan (+11.4%)
- IC design: 121 billion yuan (+18.0%)
- E-commerce platforms: 334.1 billion yuan (+8.1%)
- IoT technology services: 189.2 billion yuan (+15.3%)
Regional Development Highlights
The Yangtze River Delta region led national growth with 1.58 trillion yuan in revenue (+12.1%), followed by:
- Pearl River Delta: 856 billion yuan (+9.8%)
- Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cluster: 723 billion yuan (+8.9%)
- Western regions: 498 billion yuan (+11.3%)
Industry analysts attribute the sustained growth to China’s accelerating digital transformation across manufacturing, finance and government sectors, coupled with strong policy support for domestic software innovation and self-reliance in critical technologies.
