Amid the 18th China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM), the “Discover Russia” exhibition booth brought together 16 regions from Russia. Notably, the Tourism Department of the Udmurt Republic, located on the banks of the Volga River, has introduced a fascinating dumpling – themed culinary tour.
Dumplings hold a special place in the local culture of the Udmurt Republic. The region has long celebrated its dumpling – making traditions, even hosting “Dumpling Day” since 2015, where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy this beloved food. With the new culinary tour, travelers can now participate in dumpling – making workshops, taste a variety of dumplings filled with different ingredients like meat, mushrooms, and cheese, and learn about the rich history behind this staple dish.
In addition, 2025 marks the 185th anniversary of Tchaikovsky’s birth. To commemorate this significant occasion, the local tourism department has also developed unique travel products such as the “Tchaikovsky Express”. This special train journey takes passengers through the composer’s hometown of Votkinsk, allowing them to visit Tchaikovsky’s former residences, museums dedicated to his life and works, and experience the musical heritage of the region.
These new travel offerings aim to attract more Chinese tourists, providing them with a chance to explore the distinct culture, delicious cuisine, and rich musical legacy of the Udmurt Republic.
