India Tightens Airport Security Nationwide After Operation Sindoor

by Mary

Following India’s military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack — known as Operation Sindoor — security has been tightened at all major airports across the country. The move comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has instructed airports to enforce strict screening measures. In response, airlines have issued travel advisories urging passengers to follow new safety protocols, including undergoing double-layered security checks.

Air India, the country’s national carrier, advised passengers to arrive at airports at least three hours before their scheduled departure. According to the airline, check-in counters will close 75 minutes before take-off in line with BCAS directives. “This is to ensure smooth check-in and boarding amid enhanced security measures,” the airline stated.
