A major air traffic control failure at Paris-Orly Airport on Sunday led to the cancellation and delay of around 130 flights, causing widespread disruption for thousands of passengers. Some travelers were left waiting on planes as the airport, France’s second-largest, struggled to manage the fallout.
The problem remained unresolved by late Sunday evening, prompting the French civil aviation authority (DGAC) to advise airlines to cut their flight schedules by 15 percent on Monday. The DGAC warned that delays were expected to continue.
“The situation is improving but still requires traffic regulation,” the DGAC said, attributing the disruption to a “malfunction” in air traffic control systems. An airport insider described the issue as a “radar failure,” highlighting the technical difficulties that triggered the chaos.
Passengers are advised to check their flight status and prepare for ongoing delays as the airport works to restore normal operations.
