Record Summer Travel Expected at Spokane International Airport in 2025

by Mary

Spokane International Airport (GEG) is preparing for what could be the busiest summer travel season in its history.

The airport expects more than 8,500 airline seats to depart daily in June and July, marking a 13% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge is largely due to new or expanded flights to major cities such as Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Over Memorial Day weekend alone, departing seats rose nearly 18% from last year.

“GEG is now recognized as one of the busiest small-hub airports in the nation, thanks to airlines’ continued investment in the Spokane region,” said Frank Miller, Interim Spokane Airports CEO. He added that the increased capacity offers travelers more options but also means longer wait times at security checkpoints during peak hours. Passengers are advised to arrive early to avoid delays.

Daily peak travel times are expected between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with over 4,000 passengers moving through the airport during these hours. Other busy periods include early mornings from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. and late evenings from 9 p.m. to midnight.
