Shandong Province has already established a high-level tourism service capacity, with its market heating up and the scale of tourism accommodation enterprises continuously expanding. According to data from the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the province currently has over 1,200 various types of tourism accommodation enterprises, including star-rated hotels, cultural theme hotels, graded homestays, and rural hotels. These enterprises have formed a high-level service reception guarantee capability that covers all seasons, regions, and aspects.
On June 5th, Sun Lei, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, spoke at the “Meituan Accommodation Ecosystem Partner Conference” held in Qingdao, Shandong. She stated that the achievements of Shandong’s tourism market are due to the joint efforts of all tourism accommodation enterprises. In recent years, Shandong has held several high-quality tourism hotel construction and investment promotion activities. Moving forward, the province will also be committed to establishing a regular communication and exchange mechanism between the government and enterprises.
How to build a vibrant “accommodation + retail” ecosystem? Taking Meituan as an example, Sun Lei pointed out that as an important participant in the national hotel industry, Meituan has gathered hundreds of millions of platform traffic resources and integrated all elements of the scene, including eating, staying, traveling, shopping, and entertainment. Last year, the number of hotel bookings on Meituan exceeded 700 million.
At the 2025 Shandong Province Cultural Tourism Industry High-quality Development Conference held recently, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Meituan. In the next three years, the two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in aspects such as improving accommodation quality, brand promotion, and rural tourism, to jointly create a new blue ocean for the development of the cultural tourism industry.
