Intrepid Travel has announced six new rail trips ranging from 9 to 11 days, adding to its growing portfolio of slow, meaningful travel experiences across four continents. These new journeys traverse public rail networks through Vietnam, China, Laos, Malaysia, Kenya, eastern Canada, and northern Sweden.
Since launching its dedicated rail range in 2024, Intrepid has seen a 24% year-on-year booking growth, reflecting rising interest in train-focused travel. Unlike other itineraries, these rail trips prioritize the journey itself—offering travellers greater interaction with locals, scenic countryside views, and access to less-visited destinations.
The new additions complement Intrepid’s existing rail portfolio, which now includes 50 trips worldwide. The six new journeys are:
Kenya by Rail: Trains, Safari and Beaches (10 days) — $7,300
Malaysia’s Jungle Railway (10 days) — $2,995
China & Laos: Kunming to Bangkok by Rail (11 days) — $3,495
Vietnam & China: Hanoi to Kunming by Rail (11 days) — $2,995
Northern Sweden by Rail (9 days) — $5,970
Eastern Canada by Rail (10 days) — $6,825
Each trip is guided by Intrepid’s local leaders, who assist with navigation, language barriers, and creating opportunities to connect with fellow travellers. With group sizes averaging 10-12 people, these rail journeys foster community and rich cultural exchange.
“Rail travel has taken off in the past couple of years and for good reason,” said Erica Kritikides, Intrepid Travel’s General Manager. “It provides ease, convenience, and a slower pace in a world that’s always moving full steam ahead. Our new trips open up both iconic and lesser-known routes, supporting our commitment to sustainable travel with no internal flights and a lighter footprint.”
