Kolkata-based travel companies have joined forces to launch the ‘Chalo Kashmir’ campaign, a determined effort to revive tourism in Kashmir following recent security challenges. This collective initiative aims to restore traveler confidence and promote the Valley as a safe, welcoming destination.
The campaign comes in the wake of the tragic Pahalgam attack, which many view as an attempt to harm Jammu and Kashmir’s hospitality industry. Nearly 100 travel agencies and their partners from Kolkata are backing the movement, sending a strong message that tourism in Kashmir remains resilient.
Industry leaders stress that boosting domestic tourism is crucial—not only for economic recovery but also as a powerful response to terrorism. They believe encouraging more visitors to experience Kashmir will demonstrate the Valley’s readiness to welcome tourists and strengthen its tourism sector against adversity.
The ‘Chalo Kashmir’ campaign is more than a promotional drive; it is a strategic effort to rebuild trust among travelers and reaffirm Kashmir’s place as a top tourist destination in India.
