2025 “International Mountain Tourism Day” Kicks off in Spain

The 2025 “International Mountain Tourism Day” themed event grandly opened today on Gran Canaria Island, Spain. As we mark the 50th anniversary of China – EU diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain, this event will further promote the mutual learning of civilizations and closer people – to – people bonds.”

During the event, the International Mountain Tourism Alliance and the United Nations World Tourism Organization exchanged a memorandum of understanding, and the two sides will conduct in – depth cooperation in the innovative governance and sustainable development of mountain tourism. Peter Semone, President of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, released the “Asia – Pacific Mountain Tourism Development Report (2025 Edition)”. The report analyzed the profound impacts of mountain tourism from multiple dimensions such as economy, ecology, and culture, and put forward forward – looking suggestions.

In addition, the “Gran Canaria Initiative for the 2025 International Mountain Tourism Day” was officially released, calling on governments, enterprises, and communities to strengthen cooperation, jointly promote the development of an environmentally friendly tourism industry, and build an open and inclusive mountain civilization landscape.

Since its establishment in 2018, the “International Mountain Tourism Day” has been successfully held seven times in China, Nepal, Laos, France, and other places, becoming an important communication platform in the global mountain tourism field.
