From June 1 to 6, a delegation from Zibo, comprising officials from the municipal government, commerce bureau, and district/county representatives, visited Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for经贸 exchanges (economic and trade exchanges), holding the Zibo-Almaty Economic and Trade Fair in Kazakhstan to advance pragmatic cooperation with Central Asia.
In Uzbekistan, six Zibo enterprises—including Dongba Trade (Zhongpeng Ceramics), Yueding·Huatao, Shengfeng Chemical, and Ruiyun Biology—exhibited tiles, chemical products, and protective gear at the China-Uzbekistan Commodity Exhibition, with Zibo’s participant count ranking among the top three in Shandong. The delegation also attended the 2nd China-Uzbekistan Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum, discussing cooperation with officials from Navoi and Tashkent regions, visiting the Uzbek-China Trade Association, and inspecting local invested enterprises like Yueding·Huatao Ceramics.
In Kazakhstan, the delegation joined the Shandong-Kazakhstan Economic and Trade Exchange and the “Confucius’ Hometown, Hospitable Shandong” cultural tourism promotion. Zibo delivered a city promotion, highlighting its cultural heritage, industrial strengths, and open economy. The June 5 Zibo-Almaty Economic and Trade Fair, a major regional event, drew enthusiastic responses from local businesses, with participants eyeing deeper cooperation in multiple sectors.
Participating enterprises achieved tangible results: Shandong Shengfeng Chemical negotiated with four local raw material purchasers and outlined an electric vehicle cooperation framework with Kazakhstan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while Shandong Liao Technology Group expanded business ties.
In 2024, Zibo’s trade with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reached 433 million yuan (up 2.7%) and 273 million yuan (up 46.2%) respectively, with 17 registered overseas enterprises and $112 million in invested capital. Leveraging complementary industrial advantages, Zibo plans to guide more enterprises to explore Central Asian markets, focusing on cooperation in building materials, new energy vehicles, and electronics to achieve mutual benefit.
