The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) published an article by DPRK international affairs commentator Kim Myong-chol, stating that “issues related to entering the United States are not a concern for us.”
The article noted that the U.S. recently announced entry restrictions for citizens of multiple countries under the pretext of “national security threats,” but the DPRK was not included on the list. It stated that only the U.S. can explain whether this exclusion stems from technical factors or political motives, emphasizing that Pyongyang does not care about U.S. entry permissions.
“If the current U.S. administration believes that granting entry to a country that neither expects nor desires it would be seen as a ‘gift,’ they are completely mistaken,” the article said. The DPRK “will as always not welcome Americans to enter the country,” it added.
The commentary underscored that the DPRK’s stance on interactions with the U.S. remains unchanged, emphasizing that its policy toward foreign visitors is independent of U.S. measures. It implied that the DPRK views such entry-related decisions as irrelevant to its own priorities, focusing instead on its sovereign policies regarding international travel.
