The Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports released data showing a remarkable surge in Thailand’s tourism landscape from January 1st to June 16th. During this period, Thailand received a staggering 16 million foreign tourists, indicating a robust recovery and growth in its tourism industry.
In the recent week, the number of tourists from both short – haul and long – haul (group tours) markets has rebounded. The short – haul market saw a 9.61% increase, while the long – haul (group tours) market experienced a 4.90% growth. Notably, due to consecutive Islamic holidays like Eid al – Adha, the Middle – East market witnessed an astonishing 97.82% growth rate.
Additionally, tourists from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore also showed significant growth, with increases of 32.99%, 37.70%, and 17.94% respectively. Compared to the previous week, the number of tourists increased by 65,224, a growth rate of 10.98%, with an average daily reception of 93,990 foreign tourists.
Among all the foreign visitors, China ranked first in terms of the number of arrivals. As of June 18th, from January 1st to June 16th, Thailand had received approximately 16.2 million Chinese tourists (assuming the correct figure is around this magnitude for consistency). These foreign tourists contributed to about 765.5 billion Thai baht in consumption revenue. This influx of tourists, especially from the Middle – East and with the continuous leadership of Chinese tourists, not only enriches Thailand’s tourism market but also significantly boosts its economic development.
As Thailand continues to promote itself as a global tourist destination, the tourism industry is expected to maintain this positive momentum in the coming months.
