Resorts World Cruises made history as its vessel “Resorts World One” arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, commencing a seasonal homeport deployment. This landmark event marks Resorts World Cruises as the first international cruise line to base in Indonesia.
To celebrate this milestone, both parties organized special events. Itek Parikesit, the Director of Special Tourism at the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, expressed hopes that this deployment will bring positive prospects to Indonesia and attract more international tourists.
During the deployment period, “Resorts World One” will offer four 6 – day, 5 – night round – trip voyages from Jakarta to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur on June 16, 21, 26, and July 1. Indonesian tourists can board the ship from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta every week for a cruise vacation.
Singapore is a popular tourist destination for Indonesians. In 2023, Indonesia ranked first among the top ten source countries for Singapore, with 2.3 million visits. It was also the country with the highest spending by inbound tourists in Singapore, reaching $2.2 billion. Meanwhile, in 2023, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia reached 11.68 million, and about 1.41 million tourists came from Singapore, accounting for 12% of Indonesia’s global tourists. Singapore is also Indonesia’s largest foreign investor, with an investment of $15.4 billion in 2023 and is one of the major investors in Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, in 2024.
This new cruise initiative not only enriches the tourism experience for Indonesians but also strengthens the tourism and economic ties between Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, and is expected to play a positive role in promoting the development of the regional tourism industry.
